| 1. | What is EFT? |
| | EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a new relaxation and calming technique that modifies the anxiety response, fosters body awareness and enables positive cognitive shifts. ....in other words: A unique form of acupressure that calms you so that you can think more clearly about your problem. |

|
| 2. | Why does EFT work? |
| | EFT is "acupuncture" for the emotions. Every emotion produces a physiological response. EFT uses existing energy points without the use of needles + we activate the end points of Meridians (energy channels) to help balance the body's energy system. |

|
| 3. | Why does the unblocking of energy relieve negative emotions? |
| | It has been proven that: (Discovery statement, Gary Craig, founder + developer of EFT) The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. |

|
| 5. | Why do I have to say negative statements? |
| | To alert + direct your mind and sensitive energy system to where the blockage might be ( remember, the cause of ALL negative emotions is a blockage in the body's energy system) we state that (usually)negative truth while tapping + stimulating the meridian endpoints. The tiny vibrations dislodge the blockage or disruption that causes negative emotions |

| 6. | Which tapping points do you use and why? Are they different from Gary Craig's original recipe? |
| | There are 14 meridians running throughout the body. They can be accessed at various surface points eg. the face, head, upper torso, spine, ankles, wrists. I use the basic "shortcut"points of EFT : SET-UP statement: Karate Chop point (KC/side of the hand. TAPPING SEQUENCE: Eyebrow (EB), Outside Eye (OE), Under Eye (UE), Under Nose(UN) Chin(CH), Collar Bone (CB), Under Arm (UA), Below Nipple (liver spot)- over the liver on the right side- (BN), Inside of the wrists (W), Crown of the head (C). There are no right or wrong points. I had incredible results with these 10 points. Gary started out with the " long " basic recipe but now uses mostly the short-cut version. But, as I used to tell my son about excelling in anything in life: If you want to speak the dialect of the language, be able to speak the proper version first! So learn the basic recipe, practice and then move on to the short-cut. |

| 7. | What is the 9-Gamut and why bother with it if the shortcut version brings results? |
| | This is part of Gary Craig's "Basic Recipe"and outlined in his manual. It is also referred to as the "Brain Gym" or "Brain Balancer" (Aryuvedic science). While tapping the Gamut spot on top of the hand, 9 things are done to engage and balance the left + right hemispheres of the brain= tapping, counting, humming). I use it occasionally to help with better focus. It was dropped as an essential part of EFT, but I think it is good to know. |

| | Whatever works best. I use both approaches. |

|
| 15. | SUD's? |
| | SUDS = "Subjective Units of Distress". It is a good idea to know the intensity of the problem at the beginning and throughout to monitor its progress. The scale is traditionally from 1-10. Low= 1-3, Medium= 4-7, High= 7-10 |

|
| 16. | What if EFT is not working? |
| | Quite often the SET-UP statement is not specific enough eg. " I have low Self-Esteem" is a very broad statement and can have its core in a multitude of issues. The SET-UP, eg. "My 3rd grade teacher said I was retarded," and tapping on that and how that made you feel might bring you much better results. |

|
| 17. | How long will it take to resolve my problems with EFT? |
| | Many challenges eg. anxiety- based problems, can be resolved anywhere between 1-4 sessions. Some traumas, severe depressions, addictions and deep-seated problems also have the client tap daily on their own. Frequently we achieve complete relief with persistence or at least partial success. |
